Dr. King Rollins
When it comes to yoga, Dr. King Rollins knows personally, the powerful healing effects of this special form physical and mental exercise. After three decades of marathon, ultra-marathon competitions and Chiropractic practice, Dr. Rollins experienced severe muscle and joint problems. Then in 2000, his Brother Vern, also a Doctor of Chiropractic, opened a Bikram yoga studio and King began his practice of hot yoga. The improvements were quite dramatic.
Dr. Rollins was born into a family of athletes, first to introduce his seven brothers and sisters to yoga stretches in 1978. Quote, “I woke them all up early in the morning so we could start the day off right with stretches.” He was following the yoga based book called “Stretching” by Bob Anderson. ”I used those stretches with all of my athletes.” Still after twenty-five plus years of coaching and training various Olympic and world class athletes, he hadn’t participated an organized yoga class till 2000. “I always sent my patients in for yoga, but it was when the Studio City Bikram Studio opened that my practice became regular. It wasn’t long before my patients were getting tired of me telling them to join me for hot yoga”.
“In 2005 after moving to Utah, I was waiting for my Utah State Chiropractic License to be approved so I went to Bikram Yoga Teacher Training. I did that mostly to kill some time.” It wasn’t long after graduating from Bikram Teacher Training that Dr. Rollins took over ownership Bikram Yoga Las Vegas Tropicana and Built one of the largest yoga Studios in the world. ”At one time we were teaching 128 Bikram Classes per week”. As a Chiropractic Physician Dr. Rollins began to recognize problems associated with the Bikram program. Quote “I couldn’t get the Bikram training and brainwashing out of my Bikram instructors” So, in 2009 Dr. Rollins contacted Ted Grand and Jessica Robinson of Moksha Yoga in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In September 2009 Dr. Rollins held a Moksha Yoga teacher training at his studio in Las Vegas. Quote ” I learned a lot from that training and really love the Moksha Vibe. Thank You Ted and Jess.”
